History & Statewide Impact

In 2020, churches responded to the Holiday Farm Fire with Sheds of Hope, which developed into Cottages of Hope that has now blossomed into the statewide initiative, Team Oregon Build.

Team Oregon Build is an initiative of Oregon high schools to train students in building affordable housing. Currently, 86 schools, with 11,000+ students, are engaged in more than 400 builds. The Cottages of Hope model is the primary plan being used. God gave plans and a solution to the united Body of Christ that has empowered churches & schools to provide homes for those transitioning out of homelessness!

About Sheds of Hope

The network of community stakeholders behind Cottages of Hope first began with Sheds of Hope, an initiative birthed in response to the Holiday Farm Fire.  In two years, 26 businesses, 36 churches, and 12 Lane County high schools built 143 sheds for fire survivors. Sheds of Hope prepared the network to respond to this ongoing crisis.

Plans & Materials List

Under the direction of skilled contractors, simple plans & processes were developed to multiply the number of transitional homes in Lane County for people experiencing homelessness. This empowers caring community groups with a tangible method to impact Lane County’s housing shortage.
